2009-08-25 05:15
Autodesk Labs is a part of the so called open innnovation program, being used by Autodesk to harvest user feedback for product ideas while they're still in an early conceptual stage. this is not part of the Autodesk's beta community that's being used to test the upcoming release of Autodesk's product. Much of the technology being showcased here is actually too new to be implemented and Autodesk hopes that the user will shape up how the design community will needs it's future tools.
Aside from a straightforward website looks and fell, Autodesk divides their future toys by differentiating them by industry or products. you can start straight away to see what's in future for you in your industries.
one applications you might want to try as an architect at heart is the web-based design tools called project dragonfly. this is a web applications that dare you to play as an architect while you're not burden by installing any applications to your harddrive and start right away to begin designing. althought it seems that these will be a way off applications and there are few quirks to be solved, you can imagine that this new technology will somehow find itself to be either a plugins to their BIM products or a new products in their construction line of software. find out more of project dragonfly in http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/dragonfly/ once you're in you're asked to create an account or you can just try away what the fuss about this technology. however, by creating an account, you can save your work and showcase it you all the world.
one other technology preview is just for the engineers at heart. this technology preview is called Autodesk Inventor Fusion technology. this is a preview of using a freeform way of creating your model. imagine of creating model through direct modeling technique without to resort to a lot of menus to do what you want to do. while this technology previews is not applicable to all, that is only a few countries that can download this applications, you can still watch how the technology works and hope that it will be implemented very soon.
